Kick-off Meeting

Date: July 12,2020

EB MedsUnite was launched virtually at EBPL and the first meeting introduced the executive board, goals, and mission to the club members. 

Kiddie Pool Fun

Pool Safety

Date: July 19,2020

In response to the EB Tragedy(s) where drowning was the leading cause of death, this meeting was targeted

to teach and emphasize the importance of Pool Safety and childproofing the pool.

Danny Dubinsky

Date: July 26, 2020

Pediatric occupational therapist, Danny Dubinsky, provided more insight into the journey of an occupational therapist, in an interactive session!

EBPS HMS student, Divyashree Balaraman, shared how she contributed to the healthcare community during the pandemic through 3D printing.

Team Building

Team building is an important aspect of any group. We will be doing multiple activities to know each other better. Make sure you come and have a fun time!

Dr. Muthuswamy 

Date: August 16, 2020

Dr. Rajeswari Muthuswamy is board-certified in Child/Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry and has been practicing in the New Jersey area for over 10 years. She finished her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Program. She gave us greater insight on her career path to our club.

Grace Del Carmen & Isabela Iglesias

Date: August 23, 2020

Grace Del Carmen and Isabela Iglesias are college students pursuing their interest in the medical field. Grace Del Carmen is a Behavioral Neuroscience Major with a minor in International Affairs and is on a pre-med track. Isabela Iglesias attends Northeastern University and majors in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in nutrition, while also fulfilling a pre-med track.

Dr. Katrina Pack

Date: August 30, 2020

Dr. Pack, a Neurologist, specializes in neuromuscular medicine and electromyography. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate degree in biology.  She then went on to attend Temple University School of Medicine for her medical degree.  She completed her neurology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she served as chief resident during her final year of training.  She then stayed an additional year to complete a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine.

Dr. Murthy is an endocrinologist, with a focus on thyroid, diabetes, internal medicine, geriatrics, and chronic disease self-management.In this meeting, we learnt more about the specialization and also about mentorship programs.

Dr. Akshay Goel  Date: October 4, 2020

Dr. Goel is an Abdominal Imaging Radiologist with a special interest in medical informatics, education, and applications of deep learning. He spoke to us about his experiences, career path sharing advice about student habits!

Learn About Allergies

Date: Nov 1, 2020

Nayana Sharma, one of the members of EB MedsUnite presented the topic of allergic reactions to the group. She spoke about the different types of reactions, possible precautions, etc.

CPR & First Aid

Date: Nov 15,2020

Jayashree Balaraman and Veena Gonugondla, president/founder and vice president of EB MedsUnite respectively, presented on the topic of CPR and AEDs. They spoke about when CPR should be done, how to do CPR theoretically, the benefits of doing CPR, how to use an AED, and statistics about how many lives CPR has saved.

Winter 2020

Mental Health

Date: December 13, 2020

Ajab Shakir, one of the social media directors, presented on the topic of Mental Health. She spoke about the importance of mental health, the number of different mental issues, preventive methods, and mental health in correlation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Vaccines

Date: January 10, 2021

Riya Shah, one of the social media directors, presented the topic of the COVID-19 vaccine. She spoke about the importance of the vaccine, its composition, its side effects, and extra facts regarding it. Jayashree also conducted a Kahoot afterward.

Date: January 31,2020

Dr. Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS is a board-certified specialist in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She helps her patients improve their health and appearance, with exceptional skill and compassion. In this meeting, we learnt about facial plastic surgery and how Dr. Kieu reached where she is now!

East Brunswick's Mayor

Dr. Brad Cohen

Date: February 22, 2021

Brad Cohen is an attentive gynecologist serving the Central New Jersey area. Dr. Cohen attended Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he received his medical degree. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and his master’s degree in business administration at the very same institute.​ He spoke about his many experiences as well as shared important advice with us!

Chinmayi Balusu

Date: March 7, 2021

Chinmayi Balusu is an undergraduate sophomore pursuing neuroscience and medical humanities at Columbia University. She is the Founder & CEO of Simply Neuroscience, a non-profit organization that works to expand interdisciplinary neuroscience and psychology education, outreach, and raise awareness for over 30,000 students globally. Chinmayi is also a researcher with a background in neurodegenerative diseases who is currently focusing on cognitive neuroscience and traumatic brain injury research. In this meeting, we learned about her journey to where she is now and more about what she aims to pursue.

William Hansen

Date: March 21, 2021

William Hansen a Physician Assistant, graduated from Thomas Jefferson University, PA. At age 16, he got his EMT Certification which motivated him to pursue a medical career. He highlighted how his education, and volunteering as an EMT led him to pursue this field.

This was a very informative meeting for the club members.

On the occasion of the EBPL Maker's Day celebration, due to the pandemic, most of the events were virtual. Our club shared this kit for inculcating the interest among young kids and also some informational flyers for kids who are interested to become potential members of the club.
